Chris Arnol is the former Chief Officer and CEO of the Tasmania Fire Service (2016-2021). He also spent 7 years in Western Australia as an Assistant Commissioner in Fire and Emergency Services. As such Chris has extensive command experience in disaster-scale bushfire and cyclone events. He also led the 2015 Australian/New Zealand deployment to bushfires in the United States.
Just prior to retiring Chris was a board member of the Australasian Fire & Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC), the AFAC National Council sponsor for climate Change strategy, chair of the National Aerial Firefighting Strategic Committee and represented Tasmania on the Australia and New Zealand Emergency Management Committee.
Chris was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for his studies into Rural/Urban Interface Fires in 2007. He holds a master’s degree in Public Management, is a member of Institute of Fire Engineers and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
