Grant Lupton was the Chief Fire Officer and CEO of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) from 2002 to 2015, making him one of the longest serving Chief Officers in its 150-year history. Grant has also worked as the Deputy Fire Commissioner for the Province of British Columbia, Canada, and spent three years as the Senior Advisor for Civil Defence (Fire and Rescue) for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government. Grant has served as the Chair of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) based in the UK with 43 branches worldwide and has been a long-term trustee on their international board, as well as fulfilling various national IFE roles in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the UAE. Grant has been a director of the International Fire Chiefs’ Association of Asia and is an Honorary Life Member of the Fire Prevention Officers Association of British Columbia, as well as being a member of the International Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire Marshals Association and a former director of the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC).
